SPAcare Announces the 2007 “Spa Philanthropist of the Year” and
“Healing Hearts Award” During Their 4th Annual "Cruise for a Cure". Union City, NJ, October 03, 2007 --(PR.com)--
The Day Spa Association & The International Medical Spa Association
is pleased to announce that Marti Morenings, CEO of Universal Companies
has been named the “Spa Philanthropist of the Year” and Monique
Iacobacci has been granted the “Healing Hearts Award” during its
charity event on September 9th aboard the Temptress Yacht in New York
City.
The leaders of the day spa and medical spa industries gathered for this
year’s award celebration and fund raising effort on behalf of SPAcare,
which is a newly formed organization to promote organized charitable
giving in the spa industry. Hannelore Leavy, Executive Director for the
DMA/IMSA says that “SPACare invites the entire spa industry to extend
their commitment to their respective communities and humanity through
social-action programs geared towards helping those in need”. Everyone
applauded when Iacobacci announced SPAcare's "Start Spreadin' the News"
for Melanoma Awareness Month - May 2008 by raising a $50,000 research
grant for the Melanoma Research Foundation.
The celebrity
campaign kickoff included a keynote speech by Ramy, the much awaited
mystery guest. Ramy, a cancer survivor himself, has made an impact in
the beauty industry in helping others to feel good and look their best
while undergoing cancer treatments. He is frequently seen on TV and
Radio and appears at many beauty functions and fund raisers. Ramy
Beauty Therapy Cosmetics are located in Manhattan.
Leavy also
invited the attendees in congratulating Marti Morenings for winning
this year’s "Spa Philanthropist of the Year" for successfully raising
funds through Universal’s charity efforts with the Pink Glove program
benefitting Breast Cancer awareness. Leavy also surprised the event’s
organizer, Monique Iacobacci, with this year’s “Healing Hearts Award"
for all the work she has been doing to put together SPAcare and this
event, not to mention the other charitable efforts she contributes her
time and service to for the betterment of the community, such as
working at women’s shelters.
During the cruise, guests enjoyed
beautiful views of New York City's famous skyline while feasting on
Italian cuisine, enjoying the open bar, and networking with members of
the spa industry, including the industry leaders of the Day Spa
Association & International Medical Spa Association Advisory
Boards. Everyone enjoyed themselves and chartered the course for future
events to help those in need. For those interested in contributing to
or participating in SPAcare, please contact Monique Iacobacci at (973)
