National Recertification is required every four years. The NCBTMB requires 48 continuing education hours to renew your certification. Six of the 48 required continuing education hours must be in ethics. Of these six hours, at least two hours must address Standard V of the NCBTMB's Standards of Practice. This is the Roles and Boundaries Standard. In addition to continuing education requirements, two hundred hours of “Hands-On” Work Experience in therapeutic massage and bodywork is mandatory during the four year recertification period.
